WASHINGTON, DC – Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 18, 2007, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Alexander Karsner will be joined by John Tucillo of The Green Grid, at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote energy efficiency in the information technology sector. This MOU focuses on developing best practices and guidelines for improving energy use in electronic data centers.
Electronic data centers form the backbone of the information economy, but also consume a growing amount of energy – last year data centers used 1.5 percent of all electricity in the United States.
