Energy Official in Texas to Highlight President Bush’s Advanced Energy Initiative and Biofuels at Rice University Forum

WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, September 25, 2006, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Alexander Karsner will speak at the “Biomass to Chemicals and Fuels: Science, Technology and Public Policy” conference at Rice University’s Baker Institute in Texas.  Assistant Secretary Karsner is expected to discuss the potential of incorporating biomass into our nation’s energy mix as well as President Bush’s Advanced Energy Initiative, which aims to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources.  The conference is set to investigate the potential for biofuels as a contributor to U.S. energy security and to reinvigorate public interest in the physical sciences.
