WASHINGTON, DC - The Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded a Task Order for an estimated $19.4 million to LATA-SHARP Remediation Services, LLC for the completion of clean-up activities at the Ashtabula Closure Project (ACP) in Ashtabula, Ohio. This is the first major Task Order that has been issued under the Office of Environmental Management’s Nationwide Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) Multiple Award Contract, which pre-qualifies companies to do work for DOE’s EM program.

 

Assistant Secretary for Environmental Management James Rispoli said.  “We are delighted that this cleanup award was made easier through the use of EM’s Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity contracting system. We plan to award many more ID/IQ task orders over the next several years.”

 

DOE’s ID/IQ contracting system has competitively pre-qualified 22 companies to perform work in the following areas: environmental remediation/waste management, nuclear decontamination and decommissioning and non-nuclear decontamination and decommissioning. Specific scopes in these categories of work are then competed amongst the pre-qualified contractors to obtain best value.  The full procurement for the LATA-SHARP award, a cost plus incentive fee task order for an estimated $19.4 million, took only two months from request to contract award. 

 

The award encompasses complete building deactivation, demolition and removal, and soils remediation at the Ashtabula site.  Between 1962 and1988, uranium was processed at this location under contract to the Department of Energy and its predecessor agencies. The owner and operator of the site is RMI Titanium Company, a division of RTI International, Inc.
