Secretary of Energy's Statement on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Approval of the Energy Bill

WASHINGTON, DC - Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman released the following statement regarding the Senate Energy & Natural Resources Committee’s approval of a comprehensive energy bill earlier today:

"Chairman Domenici and Senator Bingaman’s bipartisan leadership brings America one step closer to reducing our dependence on foreign sources of energy. As our economy continues to grow, so will America’s demand for energy. In order to meet our growing needs, America must have a comprehensive plan that promotes efficiency, diversifies our energy supply - including more renewable energy sources, provides increases in domestic energy production, and improves power delivery through a modern energy grid. I congratulate all members of the Committee and look forward to working to get a final bill to the President before the August recess."
