Energy Secretary Bodman Tours Alabama Red Cross Facility and Attends National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service with Governor Riley

MONTGOMERY, AL – Today, Secretary of Energy Samuel W. Bodman traveled to Montgomery, Alabama, to commemorate a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance in honor of victims of Hurricane Katrina.

“On this day of prayer and remembrance, our thoughts and prayers are with all of the families of victims of this terrible storm,” Secretary Bodman said.  “On behalf of the Department of Energy, we are committed to carrying our relief efforts through to completion with the confidence that America’s Gulf Coast will overcome the devastation of this disaster.”

While in Montgomery, Secretary Bodman toured an American Red Cross Relief Operations Center, housed in what was once a K-Mart building.  At the operations center, Secretary Bodman thanked volunteers for their service toward the Hurricane Katrina relief effort.

Secretary Bodman also joined Alabama Governor Bob Riley, religious leaders and Alabamans at Frazer United Methodist Church for a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance service to pay tribute to hurricane victims.
