EA-1942: Notice of Intent to Prepare an Environmental Assessment

Cove Point Liquefaction Project, Lusby, Maryland

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) announced its intent to prepare an EA that examines the potential environmental impacts of a proposal to add natural gas liquefaction and export capabilities to the existing Cove Point LNG Terminal located on the Chesapeake Bay in Lusby, Maryland. DOE, Office of Fossil Energy, is a cooperating agency because it has an obligation under Section 3 of the Natural Gas Act to authorize the import and export of natural gas, including LNG, unless it finds that the import or export is not consistent with the public interest.
