Proposed Development and Demonstration of a Biomass Energy Center for Food Processing Applications, Topeka, Kansas

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) proposes through a cooperative agreement with Burns & McDonnell Engineering, to partially fund project activities to design, install, and demonstrate an innovative biomass boiler pilot project that would offset a significant percentage of the natural gas consumption used for steam generation at the Frito-Lay manufacturing plant. The Department of Energy has determined that the proposed action is not a major federal action that would significantly affect the quality of the human environment within the meaning of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
