Surface Water and Groundwater Sampling Pen Branch Floodplain near Chemicals Metals and Pesticides Pits

In accordance with the Effectiveness Monitoring Plan for the Chemicals Metals and Pesticides (CMP) Pits (WSRC-RP-2005-4077) Surface Water in Pen Branch must be sampled semi-annually in order to evaluate the Monitored Natural Attenuation (MNA) remedy for the volatile organic compounds (VOC) plume associated with the CMP Pits. Sampling in and beneath the stream are necessary to identify the VOC plume fringe from CMP Pits. Sampling may be conducted by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) students. Semi-annual sample locations are provided in WSRC-RP-2005-4007. Results from 2010 sampling are reported in SRNS-RP-2011-01136. Additional planned 2012 sample locations are provided on the attached map.
