The Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind proposes to use federal funds to fully establish Project Green. Project Green is a biodiesel public education, student training, and production program. They proposed to produce biodiesel through recycling waste vegetable oil from within the E.H. Gentry facility. This project would include site renovation and establishment, job creation, public education, biodiesel production, project green sustainability/expansion, project management and reporting. Biodiesel would be produced from waste vegetable oil acquired from the establishment of community recycle stations where residents would drop off their waste. Site renovation would entail renovating the E.H. Gentry facility to accommodate a biodiesel process.
