In 2002, a National Environmental Policy Act determination was signed for the Site-Wide Environmental Assessment (EA) of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) National Wind Technology Center (NWTC) DOE/EA-1378. This EA included the installation of an eight acre photovoltaic (PV) array located at the western edge of the NWTC, previously occupied by native grasses. The EA also identified reclaiming the areas not occupied by PVs with native grasses. NREL proposes to test seed mixes at the eight acre array to determine which native grass mix works best at the NWTC.
