Maine Governor Baldacci and Assistant Secretary Zoi to Announce Major Weatherization Milestone and Additional Funding in Maine and Across the Country


WASHINGTON - TODAY, August 19, 2010, Maine Governor John E. Baldacci and DOE Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Cathy Zoi will hold a press conference call to discuss national weatherization milestones under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Assistant Secretary Zoi will also make an announcement about new funding to support innovation in the weatherization program. They will be joined on the call with Gene Brady, the Executive Director of a local weatherization agency in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Secretary Chu to Join Representatives Lofgren and Honda at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory

Washington, D.C. - On Monday, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu will visit the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, California. Secretary Chu will join Representatives Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda and Stanford University President John Hennessy at a dedication ceremony for the Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS). The Recovery Act-funded LCLS produces x-ray pulses millions of times brighter than the world's most powerful synchrotron sources, capable of capturing images of atoms and molecules in motion.

Secretary Chu to Visit Pantex Plant Tomorrow

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will visit the Pantex Plant tomorrow, Wednesday, August 11.   The Pantex Plant is part of the Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration.  In addition to touring the plant, Secretary Chu will participate in briefings with technical experts and participate in an all hands meeting with plant employees.  Secretary Chu will be accompanied by NNSA Administrator Tom D'Agostino.  Secretary Chu and Administrator D'Agostino will participate in a media availability following the Secretary's visit at 4:15 p.m.
