WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Thursday, June 23 at 10:30AM ET, Senior Administration Officials will hold a background conference call regarding the ongoing oil supply disruptions in the Middle East and North Africa and the announcement this morning to release oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in coordination with the International Energy Agency. The call will be on background with no embargo.

THURSDAY: Secretary Chu Welcomes Students and Tours Vehicles at EcoCAR's Finish Line


Washington, D.C. - On Thursday, June 16, 2011, Energy Secretary Steven Chu will welcome the sponsors and 16 student teams participating in EcoCAR: the NeXt Challenge, a three-year collegiate student engineering competition that focuses on advanced vehicle technologies that minimize fuel consumption and emissions, to the Finish Line at the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C.  At the Finish Line, Secretary Chu will tour the vehicles on display and speak with the students who engineered and built them.

Secretaries Chu and Duncan to Host Press Conference Call to Announce National School Energy Challenge


Washington, D.C. - On Tuesday, May 24, U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan will join with the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) to make an announcement about a new energy education initiative to encourage students, teachers and families to learn more about energy consumption and efficiency, while inspiring students to pursue studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
