Grand Junction, Colo. — The U.S. Department of Energy announces the availability of the 2010 Annual Site Inspection and Monitoring Report for Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act Title I Disposal Sites and the 2010 Annual Site Inspection and Monitoring Report for Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act Title II Disposal Sites reports.

In 2010, DOE’s Office of Legacy Management was responsible for providing long-term surveillance and maintenance services at 25 uranium mill tailings disposal sites established under Title I and Title II of the Uranium Mill Tailings Radiation Control Act of 1978. Services include conducting site inspections and maintenance; monitoring environmental media and implementation of institutional controls; conducting necessary corrective actions; and performing other regulatory, administrative, records, and stakeholder participation functions. The annual reports present a summary of the long-term surveillance and maintenance services performed in 2010 and verification that these disposal sites remain in compliance with license requirements.

These reports are available on the DOE Legacy Management website at http://www.lm.doe.gov/pro_doc/guidance_reports.htm.
