Utility Wind Integration Group Distributed Wind/Solar Interconnection Workshop

May 21, 2013 12:00PM MDT to May 22, 2013 9:00PM MDT

Golden, Colorado

This two-day workshop will answer your questions about interconnecting wind and solar plants and other distributed generation applications to electric distribution systems while providing insight on integrating large-scale renewable generation into the transmission system. Held at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL) state-of-the-art Energy Systems Integration Facility (ESIF) on the first day and at the Western Area Power Administration's Electric Power Training Center (EPTC) on the second day, the workshop will provide an overview of wind and solar interconnection studies, anwer many frequently asked questions, and present case-studies on wind and solar project interconnection experiences. It includes tours of NREL's ESIF and Western's EPTC as well as a “hands on” introduction to the Utility Wind Integration Group's Internet-based tools designed to assess a distributed wind project's impact on the local distribution system. Speakers will also address topics beyond the distribution system, including transmission power operations and renewable integration studies.
