The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy is sponsoring the Native American Finance Officers Association’s (NAFOA’s) 34th Annual Conference April 17–19 in Phoenix, Arizona. This two-day conference is an opportunity for tribes to explore solutions to the economic and financial issues facing Indian Country, and provides networking opportunities with tribal leaders, professionals, and influential federal agencies.

The agenda features discussions about new opportunities for tribal governments to identify and implement viable innovative energy and infrastructure solutions to foster energy independence and economic growth. On April 18, Office of Indian Energy Director Chris Deschene and Senior Policy Advisor Doug MacCourt will be among the speakers presenting on these topics.

Other educational sessions will provide attendees with ideas for addressing the pressing economic challenges tribes are currently facing, including:

  • Accounting, budgeting, operations, sovereign asset management, and revenue diversification
  • Balancing economic development with government oversight
  • Identifying and securing viable sources of capital for current and future ventures.

Be sure to visit the Office of Indian Energy booth to meet Office of Indian Energy leadership and program staff, as well as energy project finance experts from DOE’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

Attendees must register in advance via the NAFOA website.
