Active Shooter Training Workshop

The training workshop was based on real-world threats and issues and included a variety of guest lecturers and hands-on practical exercises. Participants utilized both live fire and engagement simulation system weaponry. The exercises were led by NTC instructors at the NTC’s Live Fire Range and Integrated Safety and Security Training and Evaluation Complex (ISSTEC).

Department of Energy Cites URS -Washington Division for Worker Safety Violations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation (PNOV) to URS -Washington Division (URS-WD) based on an investigation of an October 2010 incident at the DOE Idaho Site.  The PNOV cites URS-WD with two violations of the Department’s worker safety and health regulations associated with a hoisting incident that occurred when a telescopic hydraulic gantry system (THGS) tipped while lifting a 7,800 pound shield plug at the Sodium Bearing Waste Treatment Project (SBWTP).  The Department has proposed a $150,000 civil penalty.

Department of Energy Cites Savannah River Nuclear Solutions for Worker Safety and Health Violations

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Department of Energy has issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation (PNOV) to Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS) for five violations of DOE's worker safety and health regulations and withheld $3.08 million in contract fee for significant failures in safety performance, including the matters associated with this enforcement action.  Worker safety is a priority for the Department, and DOE's enforcement program supports this priority by holding contractors accountable for meeting regulatory requirements and maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

Department of Energy Cites Parsons Infrastructure & Technology Group, Inc. for Worker Safety and Health Violations

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Department of Energy has issued a Preliminary Notice of Violation (PNOV) to Parsons Infrastructure & Technology Group, Inc. for violations of DOE's worker safety and health regulations with a proposed civil penalty of $70,000.  The violations are associated with an October 6, 2009, hand injury event that occurred while a Parsons worker was performing crane lubrication on a moving cable at the Salt Waste Processing Facility at DOE's Savannah River Site, resulting in the loss of three fingers.

Department of Energy Cites Bechtel Jacobs for Classified Information Security and Worker Safety and Health Violations

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Department of Energy (DOE) today issued two Preliminary Notices of Violation (PNOV) to Bechtel Jacobs Company, LLC (BJC) as part of an ongoing effort to ensure DOE contractors maintain a safe and healthy workplace for employees  and maintain stringent information security standards.  One PNOV cites BJC for violations of the Department's classified information security program requirements.  The second PNOV is issued for violations of DOE's worker safety and health regulations.
