DOE Office of Enforcement issues a Notice of Intent to Investigate potential nuclear safety and worker safety and health programmatic deficiencies at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant to Nuclear Waste Partnership, LLC

On June 16, 2014, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office Independent Enterprise Assessments' Office of Enforcement notified Nuclear Waste Partnership, LLC, the operating contractor for DOE?s Waste Isolation Pilot Plant in Carlsbad, New Mexico, of its intent to conduct an enforcement investigation into potential programmatic deficiencies in the contractor's nuclear safety, radiation protection, emergency management, quality assurance, and worker safety and health programs associated with two recent events. The investigation will be conducted pursuant to authorities established in 10 C.F.R. Part 820, Procedural Rules for DOE Nuclear Activities, and Part 851, Worker Safety and Health Program.
