Assessment of Nuclear Safety Culture at the Los Alamos National Laboratory Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement Project
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Enforcement and Oversight (Independent Oversight), within the Office of Health, Safety and Security (HSS), conducted an independent assessment of nuclear safety culture1 at the DOE Chemistry and Metallurgy Research Replacement Project (CMRR). The primary objective of the evaluation was to provide information regarding the status of the safety culture at CMRR project. The data collection phase of the assessment occurred in January 2012.
The safety culture evaluation performed by the external independent safety culture experts is provided in Appendix B, which provides positive observations and identifies areas in need of attention for each of the nine traits of a healthy safety culture.
