On July 29, 2016, DOE/FE granted Lake Charles Exports, LLC (LCE) and Lake Charles LNG Export Company, LLC (Lake Charles Export) final authorizations to export LNG up to the equivalent of 2.0 Bcf/d of natural gas to non-free trade agreement (non-FTA) countries in DOE/FE Order No. 3324-A to LCE and in DOE/FE Order No. 3868 for Lake Charles LNG Export.  The total authorized LNG export volume to non-FTA countries approved between the two companies will not exceed 2.0 Bcf/d.

With these most recent (July 29, 2016) authorizations for LCE and Lake Charles LNG Export, in the shared amount of 2.0 Bcf/d, DOE’s total authorized LNG exports to non-FTA countries are 15.22 Bcf/d.

After an independent review, on July 15, 2016, DOE adopted FERC’s Environmental Impact Statement for the Lake Charles project (DOE/EIS-0491), and on July 29, 2016, DOE issued two Records of Decision to authorize both applications to export LNG, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).  The new authorizations are conditioned on the Lake Charles LNG project’s compliance with the 95 environmental conditions adopted the FERC Order.
