Photovoltaic panels were installed on the Harold Washington Social Security Center in Chicago as part of an ESPC.
Since the inception of the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) energy savings performance contracts (ESPCs) in 1998, 300 DOE ESPC projects have been awarded. More than $3.08 billion has been invested in Federal energy efficiency and renewable energy improvements. These improvements have resulted in more than 371 trillion Btu life cycle energy savings and more than $7.6 billion of cumulative energy cost savings for the Federal Government.
