Elizabeth Wayman - Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative Director

BioPic_Libby 2 .jpgElizabeth Wayman serves as the Director of the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative at the U.S. Department of Energy.  This initiative is an effort to enhance U.S. competitiveness in manufacturing clean energy technologies and, by leveraging energy productivity measures and low-cost domestic resources, to cement U.S. competitiveness in manufacturing across the economy.

Before serving in this role, Elizabeth was Manager of Engineering at Alion, a solar company developing new ways to manufacture and deploy Cadmium Telluride solar modules.  There she led the transition of the technology from R&D to pilot production.  At Alion, she also led process integration of lab-scale solar cell research and development, building upon skills she developed at SunPower Corporation where she developed new products for utility-scale solar.

Elizabeth is also co-founder of STG International, a non-profit organization developing solar energy technologies for remote locations in developing countries.  She earned an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, both from MIT and holds several patents and has authored publications in clean energy technology.
