Celebrating Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the Energy Department

Each May we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, honoring the accomplishments of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders at the Energy Department, in the energy workforce, and throughout history.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the National Day of Service, the Department of Energy’s Office of Economic Impact and Diversity and the Office of Personal Management are hosting the First Annual Interagency STEM Volunteer Fair on February 5, 2014, 10am - 2pm, at the U.S. Department of Energy.

Earlier this month, I joined Chris Smith, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Acting Assistant Secretary of Fossil Energy, on stage in Washington DC at the Black Engineers of the Year Awards (BEYA) conference to present him with BEYA's Professional Achievement award, recognizing the work of Acting Assistant Secretary Smith and his team in the all-of-the-above energy strategy of the United States.
