Science fiction is now science fact as remote-controlled robots work on tank waste removal and inspection at Savannah River Site (SRS).

The mechanical helpers twist, roll and slide their way through hazardous areas that would be difficult for people to access without safety gear or superpowers.

Liquid waste contractor Savannah River Remediation (SRR) deploys mechanical helpers PackBot and Brokk 400 to protect employees from the risks of radiological waste.

These robots join fellow workers Tizzy, Frankie and G.I. Joe at Savannah River Site, a trio that cleans up high level waste from old storage tanks.
